Outdoor table set for dinner with a Santorini Greece theme

Anniversary Dinner Photo Shoot | Mike & Terri

This month we had the pleasure of celebrating the 40th wedding anniversary of Joren's parents, Mike and Terri! Their pre-COVID plan was to travel to Greece, but unfortunately that trip had to be canceled. Laura, coming from a background in event planning, jumped on the opportunity to organize an intimate dinner for just the four of us, on Mike and Terri's own property.

Keeping with the Greek theme, Laura put together decor that we already had on hand, combined with some budget finds. We made a Santorini inspired cake in the shape of one of the famous blue domed churches. It took us two days of work to make that cake a reality, but for two people without any experience we think it turned out great! We custom ordered flowers from Hilliard Floral Design and set the ambiance with plenty of candles, both on the table and in lanterns lining the path down to the table. One of our favorite Hilliard restaurants, The Olive Tree, provided a catering order and our menu included an appetizer tray full of dolmades, pita bread with hummus, olives and feta cheese, moussaka for the entrée, and of course, cake for dessert.

We made sure to capture a few couples photos of Mike and Terri, as well as the entire set up. Although they wish they could have spent this time vacationing in Greece and we would have liked to have a larger celebration in honor of four decades of marriage, we had a great time together pretending we were hanging out on the Mediterranean coast.
